Hi Jill. Love your posts! Have a question—any suggestions for a wide/wider leg jean that’s not overwhelming for us petite ladies? Everything I’m seeing is so wide, it looks ridiculous on me. Thanks!!

I feel you Ann! Some trends are best skipped if they don’t work for your body, but a good alternative to a wide jean, for petites, is what’s often called a “baby” bootcut. Wit & Wisdom does a great jean in this style: https://www.nordstrom.com/s/wit-and-wisdom-absolution-high-waist-itty-bitty-bootcut-jeans-regular-petite/7829577

Thank you for this extremely relatable post! Since covid, I’ve been yo-yo-ing 15 pounds back and forth. On my 5’2” frame - that translates to sizes 4p-10, and I’m most often on the way up or down, so it’s some size in between. Consequently, my closet is on any given day full of clothes that don’t fit and maybe one or two things that do. Add to that, at close to 60, no matter the weight, by the end of the day, my stomach looks pregnant, and pants that were loose in the morning are tight by the evening. Any suggestions on clothing and/or organization to avoid the inevitable time and frustration of figuring out what to wear?

Thank you for sharing! You are definitely not alone. The closets that are the hardest to manage are those with varying sizes, so it doesn't surprise me that you are struggling. Your best bet when in between sizes is to stick to clothing with stretch, especially pants. Most jeans have elastane, which helps them stretch - about a half size throughout the day - which should help with the end of day bloating you describe.

For now, I recommend you create an "active closet" - one filled only with clothes that fit and flatter you. I realize this might leave you with very little, but it's all you're wearing anyway! Remove all the too big and too small sizes and store them in a closet elsewhere. This prevents the frustration of having to sort through all the "wrong" items in order find the "right" ones!
