3 Things to Add to Your Closet This Fall!
A few easy, comfy ways to update your wardrobe for the season
Most of the women I work with want fast, easy ways to look their best - without feeling like they have to go shopping every month to keep up. And while they are not necessarily chasing trends, they do want to look modern and fresh.
Here are 3 things you can add to your closet this fall to spruce things up a bit!
1. Comfy fashion sneakers
Recently I was chatting with a fellow 40+ woman about how lucky we are that recent trends have made sneakers not only acceptable, but a great accessory to a cute outfit. That day, I had met with a client and was wearing jeans, a white gauze top, a textured raffia belt, white sneakers and gold jewelry. 10 years ago it would have been considered crazy to wear sneakers to work - after all, “fashion” sneakers were not a thing yet - short of an injury, nobody wore sneakers in a professional environment.
Recently diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, I have had to set aside some of my cute shoes 😢and embrace sneakers while I heal. Hallelujah! Comfort and style all in one!
These cuties from J.Crew look a bit athletic, although the gold accent elevates the look. Wear these with your more sporty outfits (like the lounge set below).
A simple leather pair can be dressed up a bit more. Some of my favorites are by Sam Edelman:
Here are some more white sneaker styling tips from Nordstrom.
2. A matching lounge set
Gone are the days when sweats were only for lounging at home. Wear this set when you want to be comfy but put together. FABULOUS for travel. The smoke color is sophisticated and a nice alternative to black, which can be harsh against mature skin.
Find the half zip top here and the wide leg pants here. Pants are available in regular, petite, and tall.
Psssst: elevated lounge sets can range in price - see below for a great knockoff of this one!

3. A little bit of leopard
It’s been called leopard print fall, ladies, and while I’d argue that it never left, leopard is BACK! If you’re not sure about leopard and want to add just a little, think accessories like belts, handbags, and shoes. You can consider animal prints a neutral.
Check out this mid-width calf hair belt in leopard. (The thicker width keeps it from swimming around in standard size belt loops.)
Want to make a bigger statement? Check out this cute puff sleeved top. Wear it with anything black anything on the bottom or a great pair of jeans for an edgier look. This top may be too much if you are already broad shouldered and/or don’t want to emphasize a full bust area. However, the added fullness in the shoulders is a great way to balance out a fuller hip/thigh area, if that’s what you’re going for. 😊

If you’ve ever wanted to work with me but time or money was an obstacle, my online course is for you!
Over the last 15 years, I have worked with hundreds of women. And no matter their shape, size or age, when they came to me their struggles were universal:
They gained weight and their clothes didn’t fit.
It didn’t matter if they were a size 0 or 12 or 22 – when their clothes didn’t fit and their bodies didn’t feel like their own, confidence waned.
They had closets full of clothes, but nothing to wear.
They spent their mornings weeding through packed closets only to wear the same few pieces over and over.
They were stuck in a style rut.
Bored to tears with the same old, same old, these women did not feel modern and fresh – in fact they felt just the opposite. They didn’t know where to shop or what to buy to flatter their body types.
Does any of this sound familiar to you?
(It sucks, doesn’t it?!?!)
Well, after years of addressing these issues over and over again with my clients individually, I have created an online masterclass to share my stylist secrets with a larger audience, and at a much lower cost than working with me one-on-one.
Ageless Style: Stylist Secrets to Looking & Feeling Your Best at 40 and Beyond includes 5 modules with videos, worksheets, and the option to add-on a discounted private consultation with me.
